Where the past is tangible and hospitality is timeless

As a family-run business in its third generation, and even though much has changed over time, our enthusiasm for hospitality remains unchanged. That is why our guiding principle for you is:

Genuine relaxation in a traditional establishment where good things are made even better.

We look forward to providing you with unforgettable and restful days.

Familiar and warm – from 1958 to today

The Sittnerhof dates back to the early Middle Ages and belonged to the Counts of Meran in the 14th century. During the French period, it made history: The farmer hid Andreas Hofer and was shot for it. A cannonball in the house wall still serves as a reminder today.

1958 the Brunner family founded the Hotel Sittnerhof alongside the farm, and later added the Pension Brunner.

1977 Hansjörg and his wife Rosmarie took over the Sittnerhof. Since then, the house has been continuously modernized: lounge with an open fireplace (1971), indoor pool and new wing of rooms (1978), underground garage, outdoor pool, sunbathing lawn, and dining hall (1997).

The latest major renovation added a fourth floor, a sun terrace, a new kitchen, as well as a modern sauna and wellness area.

What remains today was once created with traditions and stories.

Many things have changed over the years – yet one thing has remained: the warm hospitality and the passion with which the Brunner family cares for their guests.

In July 2001, the son and his wife, together with their children, breathed new life into the café Saxifraga-Stub’n on Tappeinerweg. The lovingly restored gem, once abandoned for more than 30 years.

The Brunner family vineyards stretch along Tappeinerweg, directly above the hotel. On the adjacent hectare, Meraner Kurtraube and Cabernet Sauvignon thrive, with Chardonnay at the end of the path.

Since summer 2020, Alexandra and Patrizia have been running the hotel with great dedication in the spirit of their father, who passed away in September 2020 after a serious illness. Only two years later, in April 2022, they also had to say goodbye to their beloved mother.
